The UAE has been the home of the final race on the Formula 1 calendar for many years. Year after year, tickets for all grandstands and the Abu Dhabi Hill sell extremely well. The Grand Prix takes place at Yas Marina Circuit, located on the artificially created Yas Island. The entire island was designed around the race track and has today become one of the largest entertainment destinations in Abu Dhabi.
Yas Island is home to Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, shopping malls, residential communities, restaurants and luxury hotels. One of them, W Abu Dhabi Yas Island, is located directly within the circuit and is one of the most distinctive hotels in Abu Dhabi. From the surrounding area, you can watch Formula 1 cars during the race weekend.
Yas Marina Circuit is 5.281 kilometres long and currently features 16 corners. The circuit combines fast straights with technical sections, while one of its most distinctive features is the long straight where drivers reach very high speeds. This is where the final race of the season takes place every year, making the atmosphere throughout the entire weekend truly special.
In the history of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has the most victories, having won here five times. Max Verstappen has four victories to his name. Red Bull Racing is the team with the most wins.
It is also worth mentioning the lap record. Kevin Magnussen set the official track record in 2024 with a lap time of 1:25.637. In 2023, the fastest lap during the race was set by Max Verstappen.
Around 60,000 fans can attend the circuit on a single race day. The entire Grand Prix weekend attracts even more visitors, who come not only for the race itself, but also for the practice sessions, qualifying, concerts and all the additional events taking place on Yas Island.
Next to the circuit is Etihad Park, where concerts are held every year during the Formula 1 weekend. Most importantly, if you have a ticket for practice, qualifying or the race, you can also attend the concert taking place on the same day. This means that the day does not end when the action on the circuit is over.
In previous years, some of the biggest names in world music have performed during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend. Artists who have appeared at Etihad Park include Metallica, Foo Fighters, Guns N' Roses, Rihanna, Eminem, Beyoncé, Prince and Usher. This makes the Formula 1 weekend in Abu Dhabi a unique combination of sport, music and world class entertainment.
If you are buying a ticket for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it is also worth spending a few days visiting Dubai. It is a city best experienced through both its modern and historic sides. You should visit Downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa, explore Bur Dubai, walk around JBR and Dubai Marina, and also visit Deira. Each of these places has a completely different character and shows a different side of Dubai.
That is why a trip to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is about much more than the Formula 1 race itself. It is an entire weekend filled with excitement, fast cars, concerts by some of the world's biggest stars, attractions on Yas Island and the opportunity to combine all of this with a trip to Dubai. If you are visiting F1 in Abu Dhabi for the first time, it is definitely worth planning some extra time and using the trip not only to experience the circuit, but also to discover the United Arab Emirates.
