The Script are an Irish band who have always been good at turning personal stories and difficult emotions into songs that people can relate to. The group was formed in Dublin, and their music combines pop and rock with elements of soul and hip-hop. Today, The Script consists of vocalist Danny O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power.
The band quickly became popular outside Ireland. Their breakthrough came with their debut album The Script, which included “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” and “Breakeven”. Both songs became international hits and remain among the tracks most closely associated with The Script.
More hits followed, including “For the First Time”, “Nothing”, “Superheroes” and “Hall of Fame”, recorded with will.i.am. These songs showed how The Script could combine emotional lyrics with big, memorable choruses. Their music often deals with love, breakups, loss and trying to deal with whatever life brings.
The band’s history also has a very difficult chapter. Mark Sheehan, guitarist and one of the founding members of The Script, died on April 14, 2023. His death was a huge loss for the band and its fans. Mark had a major influence on the group’s music and remains an important part of its story.
The Script decided to continue. The band is still performing and developing its music. In 2026, they released the album The User’s Guide to Being Human, which includes the song “Man in the Arena”. The band’s official website also confirms further concerts in Europe and a tour in 2027.
