The 2027 F1 season is shaping up to be exceptionally intense. The calendar features 24 races and a record 10 Sprints, while Portugal and Türkiye return to the schedule. One of the biggest surprises is the Sprint in Monaco, where an additional Saturday race will be held for the first time.
The season will begin in mid-March in Bahrain and will not finish until December in Abu Dhabi. Drivers therefore face almost nine months of racing across several continents.

As many as 10 Sprints in the 2027 F1 season
One of the biggest changes is the increase in Sprint weekends. There will be ten in 2027, a record number of additional races in a single season.
Sprints are scheduled in:
- Bahrain
- Australia
- Japan
- Canada
- Monaco
- Great Britain
- Italy
- Brazil
- Qatar
- Abu Dhabi
Monaco is attracting particular attention. Overtaking opportunities are extremely limited on the streets of Monte Carlo, which has made qualifying especially important for years. The addition of a Sprint means fans will get another competitive session during one of the most distinctive weekends of the season.
The Monaco Sprint is scheduled for June 5, one day before the main Grand Prix.
Portugal returns to the F1 calendar in 2027
One of the most important changes to the schedule is the return of the Portuguese Grand Prix. The race is scheduled for June 20, 2027.
Drivers will once again race at Portimão, which last hosted a round in 2021. The circuit is known for its numerous elevation changes and distinctive undulating layout, setting it apart from many other tracks on the calendar.
Portugal’s return also creates an intense European summer. After Portimão, the championship moves on to Great Britain, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.
Turkish Grand Prix also returns
The second major comeback will be the Turkish Grand Prix, scheduled for October 3, 2027.
The race will take place in Istanbul. The previous Grand Prix at the circuit was held in 2021, so for some current drivers it will be a return to familiar surroundings, while for others it will be an entirely new experience.
The Turkish round will fall during a particularly busy part of the season. Azerbaijan comes one week earlier, followed seven days later by Singapore.
Spanish Grand Prix 2027 will take place in Madrid
The calendar also includes the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, scheduled for September 12, 2027.
It will be another chapter in the new era of the Spanish round following the move of the main race to the capital. September will be especially intense, with Italy first, followed by Spain and then Azerbaijan after a short break.
Monaco Sprint could be one of the most interesting weekends of the season
The introduction of a Sprint in Monte Carlo could become one of the most discussed elements of the schedule.
Monaco has long stood apart from other circuits. The narrow track, limited space and few overtaking opportunities mean every mistake can have major consequences. The additional competitive session also means more track action for fans during the weekend.
From the perspective of those planning to attend, this could further increase demand for tickets for the full Monaco weekend.
The 2027 F1 season will begin and end with a Sprint weekend
The start and finish of the season are also interesting. Both Bahrain and Abu Dhabi are among the rounds featuring a Sprint.
The opening weekend will take place in mid-March. Drivers will begin the championship in Bahrain, where pre-season testing is also scheduled before the start of the campaign.
At the other end of the calendar are Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Both December rounds will feature a Sprint. The Qatar Grand Prix will take place on December 5, while the season finale is scheduled for December 12 in Abu Dhabi.
That means almost nine months of competition. With 24 Grands Prix and a record ten Sprints, the 2027 season will be one of the most packed in the history of the series.
